Hawayo Takata (1900-1980) experienced first hand the healing power of Reiki when she was cured of her own life-threatening illness in 1935. Immediately she knew Reiki was her destiny, and that she wanted to bring it to the West from Japan. Despite being a woman and a foreigner, because of her profound zeal to learn, Hawayo Takata became the first Western Reiki Master in 1938. Then followed over 40 years of Reiki practice and teaching.
In 1974, Hawayo Takata began giving Reiki classes at Trinity Metaphysical Center in Redwood City, CA. Trinity Metaphysical Center was to become the first Reiki Center in the United States. John Harvey Gray and Rev. Beth Gray were both in charge of the Center. Takata Speaks Volume II: Reiki Questions and Answers is part one of a special question and answer session held at Trinity Metaphysical Center in 1975 by Hawayo Takata for the benefit of Reiki students. Rev. Beth Gray was the moderator.
In Takata Speaks Volume II: Reiki Questions and Answers Hawayo Takata addresses some of the most important, and often confusing, questions about Reiki.
